Voodoo Brewery

Voodoo Brewery is a new business venture inspired by our good friend Matt Allyn in Meadville, PA. They have already brewed some great beers and we are excited to see their beer distributed soon (hopefully to Michigan) followed by the opening of their taproom and restaurant! My husband apprenticed under Matt when the Dark Horse first opened! Here is a picture of Matt and his wife Erica. Michigan Winter Beer Festival

DH Winter Beer Festival Display

Me and Tom (the tattoo artist)

Me and Tommy (the owner of the Unicorn)

We once again participated in the Annual Winter Beer Festival held in Old Depot Town Lansing. It was a great time! The weather held over for us quite nicely. Even though they got a bigger tent this year, it was still packed to the brim with bodies making their way to get a sample of their favorite brew. Dark Horse was the only brewery that put much thought into their display. It was pretty creative. Later in the afternoon, we stopped at the Unicorn (our favorite place to go after the festival) to warm up a bit. There was a nice banner hanging on the wall for us that they had made themselves! After that we went to a Forever Purrfect Tattoo on Cedar Street, so many of us could get some ink from Tom and Cam. I think everybody walked away happy with their new skin. After many hours of needles flying, we went back to the unicorn to wrap up the evening. I think a fine time was had by all.

Daytona 500 Party at the Chicken Coupe

I must say this was a very interesting Sunday afternoon. A bunch of friends hanging out, drinking their preferred beverage of choice, and watching the race. To tell you the truth I don't know who even won, but all I know is that I had a great time. Here are some pics that pretty much tell the story of that wintery Sunday in the Coupe!

Tan Dawg

This is my friend Tannis (he's the one between the 2 girls, as usual and the other with my amish husband) that introduced me to the world of blogging. He is a SpeedShifter, a Dark Horse connoisseur, an artist, loves boober (I totally spelled that wrong, but I laughed my ass off, so I am not going to correct it! It should be BOBBER.) bikes, and likes to treat a lady to a nite out. What more could you want? Hey you single ladies...he may be a good catch! You can learn more about him on his blog here http://tan-dawgskwazylife.blogspot.com/

Showed up at the Halloween Party! I was star struck!

Rural Woman Unite!

Every now and then when time allows, us girls just need to get out and have fun on "a girls nite out!" You never now what to expect and here are some pics to prove it! I love the look that the guy is giving Shawna's jig dance in the background!

Out of Town Friends

This is a picture of me and my friend Jen. She has lived in the Big Apple for 10 years and just made a huge job switch to do what she has always dreamed of. Congrats Jen! I get to see her a little more often than my other gal pal Leslie who lives on the west coast in Washington. When I was 6 months pregnant we traveled from Michigan to Washington for her move. I miss her dearly, and look forward to seeing her sometime soon! She is expecting her first child and I am very excited to see her as a Mom. She will be a great one! There is also Megan in Chicago and Staci in Florida.

Dark Horse Brewing Company

This is my husband's microbrewery company, a picture of him and his Mom, and a couple from the Michigan Summer Beer Festival (Scotty Karate is on the bike along with DH salesman, Mike and Clint and Mad Johnny pouring beer). It keeps him quite busy, but he loves it and is passionate about making it succeed. It is definitely a small company, but I have heard it called Dark Horse Nation(very underground, huh?) I think the best way to describe the beers, are that they are big, provide the tongue with an exercise routine that doesn't quit, and they are something different. The tap room is eclectic and the best description that I have ever read was the comment "It looks like a garage sale puked up in there." Suit and tie are definitely not required. The people are local color. Summer is the best at Dark Horse in the beer garden. The outdoor events are also pretty cool, like the Annual Crawfish Boil with great music and food. Many Bloodshot Record artists have played there like Split Lip Rayfield, The Yayhoos, and Healthy White Baby. You want to learn more....http://darkhorsebrewery.com/

Kate

This is my pal Kate. She pretends that she doesn't like me, but deep down inside I know she does. We have a good time together with our kids that are only 3 months apart and our kooky boy toys that are good friends too!

Senior Pose

Got to love the senior picture poses!
